There is always a choice. And I'm exploring some right now. Got my mind set on Ubuntu now.

Ubuntu looks like a better OS than Vista, Have you already tried it out Lefty?

I have, but I have some trouble understanding the Linux syntax. And I need the commandline to install this TV card software I have.

But the great thing about Ubuntu is that it has all the basics installed, and there are many, many programs that are easy to plug in using the Software Terminal (no pesky downloads or frustrating compatibility issues.) And it's absolutely FREE. Which is always a plus. Version 7.04 (aka FeistyFawn) is out now. Go here and click on the download link at the bottom of the page. http://www.ubuntu.com/products/WhatI...desktopedition

But I'd try it out on a seperate HDD before installing it on your regular computer. And if you're new to Linux (like I still am in most ways that count) you could try Knoppix. Just burn it onto a CD. The OS runs from your CD and you can tinker around in it, but when you're done and take the CD out, nothing has changed in the OS you were using. It's a safe way to get a feel for Linux. I found this German site that offers downloads of Knoppix http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html but don't worry - this is the translated page.
